CAMRA West Cumbria Real Ale Premises and Brewery Guides

Welcome to our website, through which we hope to bring to your attention, and guide you around a wealth of interesting, historical and picturesque real ale premises, and breweries located in West Cumbria, the Shangri-la of the Lake District. There are four branches of CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) in Cumbria, namely Furness, Solway, West Cumbria and Westmorland.  This website covers the CAMRA West Cumbria branch area, bordered by Mawbray in the north, Waberthwaite in the south, Scales in the east, and the Solway and Irish Sea coast in the west. The area spans two council authorities, Allerdale and Copeland.

Each premises and brewery will be surveyed by a branch member to bring its entry details up to date. Each guide has been placed onto this site in downloadable (PDF) format. These can be printed as A4 two side printed, full colour, double fold down to A6. If available, please set your printer to two side printing.

There are ten guides in total, comprising “Cockermouth”, “Bordering Cockermouth”, “Keswick”, “Outer Keswick”, “Maryport, Aspatria & Solway Coast”, “Workington Area”, “Whitehaven”, “A5086 Rowrah to Egremont”, “A595 Hensingham to Gosforth” and “A595 Holmrook to Waberthwaite”. All these are now complete and uploaded.  The guides will be kept up to date with an online “Updates” page and “new” editions. There is also a Brewery Guide. It is intended that this will offer locals and visitors alike detailed and current information on all our Branch real ale premises and breweries
